Why Faith Communities Are Critical for Voter Engagement This November

As the November elections draw near, the stakes couldn’t be higher. In an election year marked by fierce debates on critical issues, the choices made at the polls this November will shape the future of millions.

One thing remains clear: everyone, regardless of political leaning, needs to make a decision on November 5th. It’s not just about choosing between left or right, but about ensuring that all communities, including those of faith, turn out to vote.

Faith communities are no strangers to the challenges facing our country. Many people of faith are already feeling the impact of current policies, and the outcome of this election could dramatically alter their lives. With over 350,000 faith congregations in the U.S., according to the 2020 Religion Census, the faith community has a powerful voice that must be heard.

This moment presents an opportunity for faith leaders to remind their congregants of how their values and beliefs align with the critical decisions at stake. Faith, after all, often compels individuals to act on behalf of justice, compassion, and the well-being of their neighbors.

The question is: how can these communities mobilize? The answer lies in voter education and engagement. Now is the time for faith leaders to encourage thoughtful conversations within their congregations about the impact of this election, and to ensure that their members are informed and ready to vote.

Every vote matters, and every community has a role to play. The faith community, with its longstanding commitment to justice and moral leadership, has a unique opportunity to make sure that people of all backgrounds head to the polls this November.
